I am PMP certified and have years of experience working on digital media related projects. Whether it’s a website or mobile project, I can help you get your projects off the ground  and completed on time and on budget.

I have worked on projects using both the traditional waterfall and agile methodology. I am comfortable working with various teams, including executives, sales, marketing, design, finance, IT, legal and editorial.

I am currently working as a Senior Project Manager at the National Post. I am responsible for working on a multitude of digital projects for their online and mobile products.

DEVELOPMENT & DESIGN

Having over 8 years of experience as a developer and web designer I have gained a good understanding of usability, best practices and the technical aspects of developing products online.

My work experience has exposed me to various departments of large corporations ranging from corporate communications, marketing to digital media. I have enjoyed collaborating with advertising, product managers, design and development colleagues on providing quality products for the web.

Kanban board – Useful tool and application

About a year ago I was looking for a good application so, that I could share the Kanban board to the Digital department online.

Although a physical board has it’s benefits, an electronic version of a Kanban board is useful when teams need to access it remotely and prefer to view/update the board in real-time throughout the day.

I researched and tested a few boards and found that AgileZen met most of the requirements I needed as a project manager to improve and organize development requests and projects for the digital team.

Things that I find useful and appreciate about the application are:

  • Design and UI is simple and clean.
  • It has an easy to use drag and drop interface, allows users to add comments and attach files to each story
  • AgileZen has colour coding options of stories which makes it easier to identify tickets visually.
  • It provides the ability to add task lists, tag, search and filter stories
  • AgileZen allows you to easily create new columns for your process, organize the columns on the board and set limits
  • Reporting/performance capabilities
  • API available

There is of course room for improvement for AgileZen. I would like to see improvement in their notification options (e-mail notification) in future updates. However, for now this is a very good tool that can be used for both a Kanban board or a Scrum board.
